Last night was our town's annual "Falcon Freedom Days" which includes a concert (don't know who came this year) and a really spectacular fireworks show. Last year we had a great view from our back patio and could avoid the crowds in the neighborhood. So we decided to invite a few families over for a BBQ.
I had to work until 7:30 so Doug was on his own getting things prepped. I made a few things ahead of time but he was left with that last minute rush of getting things done. It was fun to come home to a house-full of people and we enjoyed getting to know some families better (now that our core friends from this area are gone we are branching out...).
The kids had a GREAT time. So much laughter and shrieking. They threw those pop-its on the back patio and then Doug did his own little fireworks show in the front (thankfully they lifted the fireworks ban since we got so much moisture last year).
Bode is loving Doug's fireworks in this shot--just totally startled! Not sure why it won't enlarge?
Finally at 9:40 the big show started and lasted a good 30 minutes. For a smallish town, it was a super-impressive show. Bode had a great time running around with his pals and was so excited that his friends were at his house.
Now everyone is up and Bode's talking non-stop about all the "big" fireworks and how loud they were and on and on. Much fun.
